Order crib.....check!

Well, major purchase number one has been made. We really haven't purchased much yet, but the time (and sale) was right. We headed over to Simon's baby furniture store Sunday afternoon, holy moly.....they have a LOT of stuff! The sales people were very nice and helpful, we learned a lot about cribs! I went in with the idea that I HAD to have a drop side crib, I am short and thought it was a must! After a little "crib 101" from the sales lady, I quickly changed my mind. It was no longer a must, in fact the static side cribs seemed so much more sturdy and solid. However, most of the static side cribs had really high sides (some were as low and my hip though). There was no way I could reach the baby once the mattress was lowered all the way down.

She then showed us an alternative, drop gate cribs. Perfect! Still sturdy, yet baby would be within reach! I feared pinched fingers.....nope, they use piano hinges. I put my fingers in the hinge while the gate was down, closed the gate and it never touched my fingers! There were about 5-8 different drop gate cribs, yet DJ and I kept going back to one. We then picked out a matching dresser combo (will be used as a changing table as well). We didn't order the hutch top, but might end up adding it later. The crib converts to a toddle bed, and then a full size bed. We still need to purchase the adult rails to make it into a full, the mattress, and the Guardsman warranty. I am also going to order the little color block so we can match the set with a glider, and hopefully refinish grandmas tall dresser in the same color! The pieces do match, although the picture doesn't seem to. The maker is Baby's Dream, crib style is Kathryn, and the color is cinnamon. It will take 6-8 weeks to come in!



We also finally grabbed a copy of the Baby Bargains book, out of all the baby books I have picked up.....this one is a must! DJ is reading it cover to cover, it must be good! It has our crib manufacturer rated A.....phew....we picked up the book after we ordered the crib! The book lists the must haves, the best/worst brands, wastes of money.....everything! It will really come in handy when it is time to register!

I am 16 weeks today! The time lines are weird, but I think I can say I am 4 months! I have another OB appointment next Monday, routine (I hope!) weight check....check baby's heart rate, etc. I have been feeling so much better, not 100%....but damn close! My main battle is heart burn now, Tums are my friend.

I haven't really thought too much about tomorrows Inauguration. However I am suddenly moved by it, and looking forward to it. My wonderful hormones have me slightly emotional about it too.....I am hopeful that Obama will produce the change he speaks of. I have more to care about now than my future, we are bringing a new life into this world....I hope and pray that this world is good to my baby.
